Raw edge applique. Hard to see in photo, but the moon and stars are covered with a very brightly shimmery sheer over white lame. Really reflective and pretty. Glass star beads are sewn into the sky (also not visible in the pic). The leaves on the tree are thread lace that I made overlaid on the quilt, then stitched on with metallic silver thread (to simulate reflection of the moonlight). The tower to the far left is actually two large glass beads that I thought made the perfect top to the short squat tower there.

(edit: I realized scanning my gallery that the most recent pieces I posted were so very badly overexposed. They looked faded and drab... and the pictures simply did not do justice to the beautiful fabrics and colours. So I did a little playing with the colour balance and this is the result. If you liked it before, I think you'll appreciate it even more like this, closer to 'real'. If you thought it looked just 'eh' before, maybe you'll like it now. Either way, here it is, regardless... Enjoy.)

Oh my gosh, this is gorgeous!!!! I assume this is going to be hung since it's such a wonderful piece of art, but I can just imagine some sweet little girl or boy having that for their childhood blanket.

I considered a dragon... but couldnt find or come up with a design I liked before the class I made it in... still considering adding a unicorn down by the lake tho.

yes, it's a wall hanging, it's only about 12x18, so a bit too small even for a child's blanket. Thanks for your comments - glad you like it! :)
