Artist's Comments

Fully commissioned quilt made for a wonderful lady for her 65th birthday present to herself... There's so much detail here I don't know where to start. The flower petals spell out the names of her sons, her d-i-l's and her grandchildren. Among the rocks and flowers near the bottoms are images of her two cats (plus a random 3rd kitty that looks like one of mine). In the leaves are the names of her two husbands and their wedding dates. The birds in the sky are stylized versions of the ASL sign for 'I love you' - Rachel teaches ASL. The hearts in the center of each flower are pieces of maps showing places she has either lived or traveled. She loved the quilt - I'm glad... I worked very hard on this one. Completely designed and executed by me. Tree is VERY loosely based on a design by Jane Sassaman.

Rachel's Quilt by =unicornslave. Made on commission for a client's 65th birthday, the artist included many personal details in this quilt as well as many birds and animals. The suggester said that "this is simply breathtaking." (Suggested by ~cyla and Featured by `Kitten-of-Woe)

Wow - you really did work hard on this one. It's georgeous. How'd you put it together? Fused applique? Machine? By hand? Yikes!
